Barbados is only sporadically affected
by Hurricanes. The last major hurricane that caused
major damage was Hurricane Allen (1980). On average,
the country gets brushed by hurricanes only every
few years, the last being Hurricane Ivan (2004), which
caused minor damage. Barbados has a well developed
disaster management sector, including the Central
Emergency Relief Organisation.
