Profile
The two largest islands of the Netherlands Antilles,
Curacao and Bonaire
are located near the coast of Venezuela. Once the
centre of the Caribbean slave trade, the Venezuelan
oil industry has made petroleum refining one of the
major industries of these islands. Unlike the remainder
of the Netherlands Antilles, these two islands are rarely
threatened by hurricanes, and there are no severe hurricanes
on record for these islands.
