    Located on the Southern portion of the Caribbean, Trinidad and Tobago
    lies outside the path of most hurricanes and tropical storms. Its disaster management infrastructure is also well-developed.

    Area 5,129 km2
    Terrain Mostly plains with some hills and low mountains
    Population 1,088,644 (2005 est.)

    Government Strategies


    The office of Disaster Preparedness and Emergency Management was formally launched on October 28, 2005, replacing the National Emergency Management Agency.
