Philosophy of Gender Seminar
The CGDS Mona Unit hosted a regional CGDS seminar to guide preparations for the delivery of two new courses (August 10-11 2006)
CGDS Annual Regional Strategy and Planning Meeting
Dr Marshall and Ms June Castello represented the CGDS Mona Unit at the meeting held May 21-22 2007 hosted by CGDS Cave Hill unit in Barbados

UWI Health Centre’s: Sexual Safety Committee
CGDS MU participated in this Committee which produced: UWI Sexual Safety Policy document: user-friendly and gender-sensitive policy document on Sexual Safety that includes UWI’s HIV/AIDS and Sexual Harassment Policies; developed a programme to support implementation of the policies and provide related services; provided guidance for a CGDS Mona Unit research study on “Gender, Sexual violence and HIV/AIDS” among the UWI Mona population.
CGDS Mona Unit facilitated links between the UWI Health Centre and the UNFPA to support female condom programming at UWI.
Office of the Director of Student Services
The CGDS Mona Unit participated in the Mentorship Programme, provided lectures and other activities for the UWI’s First Year Experience, promoting the importance of gender.

Government of Jamaica
Planning Institute of Jamaica: Jamaica 2030 Task Force
CGDS MU participated as a member of the Gender Task Force and the Population and Development task Force for this long term planning initiative
JAMAICA SOCIAL POLICY EVALUATION PROJECT (JASPEV)/CABINET OFFICE
The CGDS MU is a member of the Technical Working Group for JASPEV and co-chaired the Governance Task Force.
Jamaica Bureau of Women’s Affairs
Supported events to: develop Jamaica’s National Gender Policy; commemorate International Women’s Day (March 8) and International Day Against Violence Against Women (November 25 2006) and joint research.
Shortwood Teachers College
Dr Dunn serves as a member of the Board of Governors and during the year assisted the College to develop a course module on Gender issues in Education (Public Service)
COMMONWEALTH SECRETARIAT
Dr Dunn was invited by the Commonwealth Secretary General to serve as a member of the Commonwealth Observer Team for the Tripartite Elections in Zambia in September 2007 (Public Service).
UNITED NATIONS
UNIFEM
UNIFEM/CARICOM/CGDS St Augustine Ad Hoc Committee on Gender and HIV/AIDS which produced a Gender and HIV/AIDS Checklist for use by National AIDS Committees; An Advocacy Brief on Gender and HIV/AIDS for use with CARICOM Heads and provided technical assistance to National AIDS Committees in Barbados and Jamaica. Ms June Castello also provided gender training for a UNIFEM-sponsored Gender training course for UN staff teams in Jamaica in July 2007.
International Labour Organization, Geneva
Dr Dunn prepared and presented a Global report on the Unconditional Worst Forms of Child labor, in Istanbul, Turkey May 21-22 2007
UNITED NATIONS POPULATION FUND (UNFPA)/ Government of the Turks and Caicos Islands
Dr Dunn facilitated a training workshop on gender budgeting and gender-sensitive policy making for Heads of National Gender Machineries and Planning Units in the Overseas Territories, held in the Turks and Caicos Islands December 4-7 2006
Inter-American Development Bank (IDB)
The CGDS Mona Unit is represented on the IDB’s Civil Society Advisory Committee and Dr Dunn served as Chair in 2006/2007.
Outreach to Secondary Schools
Dr Dunn presented a session on careers in Gender and Development studies at the annual St Hugh’s Career Day Fair.
Media Outreach
Staff of the Mona Unit conducted media interviews on a number of occasions during the year.
RESEARCH ASSOCIATES
The Unit collaborated with seven (7) Research Associates during the year some of whom were gradates of the Centre.
