Curriculum
- the plan for achieving educational goals guided by
philosophy and purpose of the institution, includes
content, delivery and evaluation of all experiences.
It is the vehicle used to implement policy, locally
and nationally. Traditionally, educational programmes
have been delivered face-to-face in a geographic location.
Today, with technological advances however, the physical
constraints no longer apply, and face-to-face classroom
delivery of higher education is just one of the alternatives
to the delivery curriculum.
The important concepts of equity and accessibility
are paramount to educational advancement and include,
integration of belief systems and learning, admissions,
finances, manual labour requirements, geographical accessibility
and programmes.
There are many ways in which a university can use policy
in curriculum, programmes and the delivery of programmes
for the public good. An important question is, what
can the national policy makers do to help tertiary educational
institutions to effectively deliver such programmes
for national and regional development. |
