Professor
Frederick Hickling holds a Doctor of Medicine (Psychiatry)
degree from the University of the West Indies and membership
of the Royal College of Psychiatrist in the United Kingdom.
He has worked at Bellevue Mental Hospital as a Senior Medical
Officer and helped to establish a unique community psychiatric
service and to pioneer cultural therapy.
He established Psychotherapy Associates as a private psychiatry
research service in Kingston in 1980 and Connolley House,
a private community mental health and development centre in
1985. Between 1999-2000 he established Psychotherapy International
Limited and the Bond Hickling Bartley Institute in the United
Kingdom.
In 2000 he was appointed Professor of Psychiatry and Head,
Section of Psychiatry, at the University of the West Indies,
