Dr.
Herbert Thompson is the President of Northern Caribbean University
(NCU). He is a Professor of Biochemistry and has lectured
at the undergraduate and graduate levels in the areas of Genetics,
Physiology, Biochemistry and Philosophical Biology. He holds
a Ph.D and M.Phil in Biochemistry from the University of the
West Indies, a B.Sc. in Biology from La Sierra University,
California and a M.Sc. in Physiology from Loma Linda University
also in California.
He is also a consultant who has worked with institutions and
groups to improve the quality of education especially in the
areas of the natural and applied sciences. He is highly sought
after for the delivery of motivational speeches to business
and academic groups and has authored two books, in addition
to several papers and articles in his areas of expertise.
Dr Thompson has also made numerous presentations in the areas
of life-style and diabetes management.
His civic and national duties include, Director, Bank of
Nova Scotia, Member, University Council of Jamaica, Director
of the Board, Adventist Accrediting Association (Washington
DC), Member of the Rotary Club of Mandeville and former Chairman,
Joint Committee for Tertiary Education.
He was the Governor General’s awardee for excellence
in 1999.
