Cecile
Walden is the Principal of Sam Sharpe Teacher’s College,
in Montego Bay. She has also served as the Executive Director
of the Jamaica Cultural Development Commission, as a Trainer/Co-ordinator,
and as a member of In-Service Teacher Education Unit Trust.
She has also taught English and French at Cornwall College.
She holds a B.A (General) with honours from the University
of Ottawa in Canada, a M.Sc in Educational Leadership from
Central Connecticut State University, and a PhD in Pedagogy
from the same university.
Her professional affiliations include Founding Member and
First Honorary Secretary of the Association of Caribbean Tertiary
Institutions (A.C.T.I ), Executive Member of Joint Board of
Teacher Education, Member of the Jamaica Teachers’ Association,
Chairman, Association of Principals and Vice Principals of
Teacher Training Institutions and Director , Centre for the
Advancement of Individuals with Special Needs (C.A.S.A.N.I)
(OAS sponsored).
She is actively involved in her community and in 1983 she
was appointed Justice of the Peace for the Parish of St. James.
Dr. Walden is also a Member of the Good Shepherd Foundation,
Member of the Montego Bay Civic Centre Management Committee
and Member of the Diocesan Education and Youth Board.
