Alison
Elizabeth Stone is a proud graduate of St. Hugh’s High
School in St. Andrew, Jamaica. She later attended the University
of the West Indies, Mona Jamaica where she graduated with
a BSc ( First Class Honours) degree in International Relations.
She holds a MSc. Social Sciences ( with Distinction) degree
from the Consortium Graduate School for the Social Sciences
( now SALISES) and was awarded a Commonwealth Scholarship
in 1993 to pursue postgraduate studies at Oxford University,
England. In 1995, she successfully completed an M.Phil. in
International Relations. She is currently a candidate for
the D. Phil. Degree.
Miss Stone joined the Jamaican Foreign Service in November
1989 and has served in various positions with a particular
focus on international trade. She is currently the Deputy
Director of the Foreign Trade Department in the Ministry of
Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade. In 1997, she was appointed
Minister/Counsellor in Jamaica’s Permanent Mission to
the UN and its Specialized Agencies in Geneva, Switzerland
and subsequently also served in the Embassy of Jamaica in
Washington, D.C.
She has lectured fulltime in the Department of Government
at UWI, Mona on international relations theory and public
administration.
She enjoys watching cricket, playing tennis, poetry-writing
and music.
