Alvin
G. Wint is professor of international business at University
of the West Indies (UWI), Mona. He holds a doctorate in international
business from Harvard University. His research, in international
investment policy and promotion and international competitive
strategy, has resulted in forty-two publications, including
seven books and monographs, and fifty presentations to conferences
and colloquia. A former associate editor of the Journal of
International Business Studies he serves as a member of the
editorial advisory board of the Academy of International Business’
Insight Publication. At UWI, he has received several awards
including Principal’s research awards, and the Vice-Chancellor’s
Award for Excellence. He has also been the recipient of a
“best article of the year” award from the International
Journal of Public Sector Management.
In addition to his published work. Professor Wint has authored
or co-authored fifteen major technical reports presented to
national governments or multilateral institutions. He has
prepared reports that have been presented to the board of
directors of the World Bank’s Multilateral Investment
Guarantee Agency, and to the prime ministers of several countries.
He has served as consultant with, and adviser to, the World
Bank’s Foreign Investment Advisory Service, counsellor
to the Multilateral Investment Guarantee Agency and expert
resource person to the United Nations.
He is a member of the board of directors of National Commercial
Bank and National Commercial Bank Insurance Company, and,
a former auditor, he also serves as chair of the audit committees
of these boards. Additionally, he serves as a director of
Jamaica Promotions Corporation and Jamaica Producers Group
and chairs the board of directors of the Statistical Institute
of Jamaica.
