Professor
Neville Ying is the acting Executive Director, Mona School
of Business, Professor of Business Development and Director
of the Labour Studies Programme of the University of the West
Indies.
Professor Ying has a proven track record of achievements
and excellence in performance at Executive and Senior Management
positions in the public and private sectors. Some of the positions
in which he has served are Group Vice President, Human Resource
and Development, Mechala Group (formerly ICD Group); Chairman,
Institute of Management & Production and Project Manager
UWI/USAID Management Education Project responsible for the
establishment of the MBA Programme and Institute of Business
at UWI, Mona Campus. He has also served as President of the
Jamaica Employers’ Federation.
He has undertaken consultancy work for a number of local
and overseas businesses and Government and International Agencies.
He has also presented papers at several local, regional and
international conferences and symposia and produced numerous
and varied publications.
Prof Ying sits on several Boards including the Overseas Examinations
Committee and the Mico and Jamaica Flour Mills Foundations.
He holds a Teachers’ Diploma, B.Sc. in Mathematics and
Physics, an M.A. in Measurement and a Ph.D. in Psychometrics.
Among the many awards he has received are the Mico Millennium
Award 2000 for distinguished service and outstanding performance
and the Chancery of the Orders of the Societies of Honour,
Jamaica National Honours - The Order of Distinction in the
Rank of Commander Class in recognition of contributions made
in the Fields of Human Resource Management and Business Development,
2001.
Married to Esther, Prof Ying has one son.
