The Mona Academic Conference 2007 is scheduled to take place from Friday, August 31 to Sunday, September 2, 2007, with its Opening Ceremony on Friday, followed by two days of presentations and discussions on Saturday and Sunday. March 2007 was the 200th anniversary of the abolition of the slave trade and to mark this important date in our history, the conference will examine the meaning of this event for us and for humanity.

Venues
The Opening Ceremony of the 2007 Mona Academic Conference will be held on Friday, August 31, 2007 at 6:00 p.m. in the Undercroft, The University of the West Indies, Mona Campus, Kingston 7, Jamaica , W.I.
Immediately following the Opening Ceremony, The Principal of the Mona Campus, will host a Reception at the Mona Visitors' Lodge and Conference Centre.

The panel discussions will be held on Saturday, September 1, 2007 and Sunday, September 2, 2007 from 9:00 a.m. to approximately 5:30 p.m. in the Social Sciences Lecture Theatre in the Faculty of Social Sciences. Coffee Breaks and Lunch will be organized daily.

Campus Tours
There will be a tour of historical campus sites on Saturday, September 1, 2007 from 7:30 a.m. to 8:00 a.m. Interested persons are asked to register on Friday afternoon at the Opening Ceremony.

Registration
Interested persons are welcome to attend the conference and participate in the discussions that will follow each panel presentation which will take place in the Social Sciences Lecture Theatre of the Faculty of Social Sciences on September 1 and 2, 2007.

We invite all our guests to register for the conference by signing the guest-book at the Secretariat desk upon arrival and paying a registration fee of J$500 per day (inclusive of coffee and lunch).
