Anthony Bogues

Anthony Bogues is Professor of Africana Studies and Political Science at Brown University where is also the current departmental chair of Africana Studies .

A former lecturer in the Department of Government at the University of West Indies , he is also a Visiting Professor and associate director at the Center for Caribbean Thought . Bogues has been a distinguished fellow at the Center for African Studies , University of Cape Town ; the Freedman Humanities Lecturer at Dartmouth College and Visiting Humanities lecturer at Northwestern University. His 2003 , book Black Heretics , Black Prophets : Radical Political Intellectuals won the Mid-Atlantic Distinguished Writers Award for non fiction. He is the editor and author of four books . His most recent book is Empire of Liberty and Desire : Power and Freedom . He is the author of over 45 articles on Caribbean intellectual history , political thought , critical theory and cultural studies. Bogues is an associate editor of the journal Small Axe and a member of the editorial collective of one of the leading international humanities journal, Boundary2.
