
Carolyn Cooper
Carolyn Cooper is Professor of Literary and Cultural Studies at the University of the West Indies, Mona , Jamaica . She is the current Director of the Institute of Caribbean Studies and Co-ordinator of the Reggae Studies Unit. Professor Cooper is the author of Noises in the Blood: Orality, Gender and the 'Vulgar' Body of Jamaican Popular Culture , two chapters of which focus on the work of Louise Bennett. In Sound Clash: Jamaican Dancehall Culture at Large , Professor Cooper draws attention to Louise Bennett's legacy in the contemporary dancehall.
