ADMISSION OF STUDENTS TO THE
BACHELOR OF EDUCATION (B.ED.) LITERACY
STUDIES ONLINE PROGRAMME


SUMMER 2007

• Applications are invited for admission to the B.Ed. Literacy Studies Online programme to be offered by The University of the West Indies (UWI). This is a self-financed programme offered by part-time study and normally should be completed over four semesters and three summers, commencing June 2007. Instructional delivery includes internet, face-to-face, and distance modalities. Applicants should have access to internet facilities.

• Teachers with a Literacy Studies degree are able to help students at ALL levels of schooling become strategic readers and critical thinkers, thus enhancing comprehension of ALL kinds of texts. This should improve overall performance and the possibilities for lifelong learning.


MATRICULATION REQUIREMENTS

• Applicants should have a trained Teachers’ Certificate. Additional professional development training would be an asset.

APPLICATION FORMS/FEES
• Application forms are available from the Resident Tutor at the University Centre.
• Applicants are required to pay an application processing fee of US$30.00
• The following original documents MUST be submitted with the application:
- Birth Certificate, Academic Certificates/Grade Slips (accepted only in cases where the certificates are not yet available), Professional Certificates, Diplomas if applicable, Marriage Certificate/Deed Poll (whichever is applicable) if present name is different from that on documents.
