• Applications are invited for admission to the B.Ed.
Mathematics Education Online programme to be offered
by The University of the West Indies (UWI). This is a self-financed
programme offered by part-time study and normally should be completed
over five semesters and two summers, commencing September
2007. Instructional delivery includes internet, face-to-face,
and other distance modalities. Applicants should have access to
internet facilities.
MATRICULATION
REQUIREMENTS
• Applicants should normally have a three-year trained Teachers’
Diploma in Mathematics Education, Primary Education or equivalent.
Other candidates may be considered subject to professional assessment.
ENGLISH
LANGUAGE PROFICIENCY TEST (ELPT)
All applicants to the Mona Campus of The University of the West
Indies who have not achieved a Grade 1 in English (English A)
in CXC (CSEC), a Grade A in GCE O’level English Language,
A Grade 1 & 2 in CAPE Communication Studies or a Grade A in
GCE General Paper, are required to take the English Language Proficiency
Test. The test registration form and an application fee of $1500
should be submitted with the application for entry to the University.
The date of the test is March 9, 2007

FORMS/FEES
• Applications can be completed online free of charge at
www.mona.uwi.edu, or application forms can be collected from the
Admissions office at Mona. Applicants using the paper forms are
required to pay an application processing fee of JA$450.00 at
any branch of the National Commercial Bank and submit the voucher
along with the completed application form.
• The following original documents MUST be submitted with
the application:
- Birth Certificate, Academic Certificates/Grade Slips (accepted
only in cases where the certificates are not yet available), Professional
Certificates, Diplomas if applicable, Marriage Certificate/Deed
Poll (whichever is applicable) if present name is different from
that on documents.
