TRIBUTE
FROM

THE LIBRARY ASSOCIATION OF TRINIDAD & TOBAGO

The Library Association of Trinidad and Tobago deeply mourns the passing of Dr. Dorothy Collings, first Head, Department of Library Studies, University of the West Indies, Mona, Jamaica.

In the year 1974, Trinidad & Tobago welcomed its first group of Mona graduates. Succeeding years saw an increasing number of entrants to the profession. Not only have these dynamic young professionals added depth and breadth to practice of librarianship in Trinidad and Tobago but have also made worthwhile contributions in other parts of the Caribbean and the wider world. At home, Mona graduates continue to provide outstanding Library and Information Services to government, business, industry and the university community.

Those of us who were taught by Dr. Collings fondly remember her deep concern for the development of Library Services in the Caribbean Region. Ever present in her mind was the role of the Department of Library Studies in providing a corps of professionals who would transform librarianship in the region.

Her wide and varied experiences in similar areas gave her a profound understanding of the situations from which her students came. Always warm and approachable, Dr. Collings never failed to provide a compassionate ear to our problems and concern.

The Library Association of Trinidad and Tobago lauds this generous and public spirited gesture on behalf of Dr. Collings. LATT is confident that it will redound to the benefit of the entire region.

May she find eternal peace.
