The Collections:
Originally established as a teaching aid the Library has evolved
into the Learning Resource Centre. Renamed in 2001, the Learning
Resource Centre extends a variety of services to the staff and students
of the Department as well as to local and regional information professionals.
The core collection is comprised of material that supports the teaching
and research needs of the Department. A collection of laws, articles,
conference proceedings, and the Library and Information Association
of Jamaica (formerly Jamaica Library Association) publications,
form an integral component of this collection. There is also a photographic
collection, documenting the history of the Department; as well as
the research papers submitted by the students of the Department.
The latter collection reflects the trends and historical development
of Caribbean libraries and practices in the field of librarianship.
