Of Arts in Library & Information Studies
Introduction
This programme leads to the degree of Bachelor of Arts with a major
in Library and Information Studies. It is open to those who can
satisfy the University matriculation requirements; normally, this
is five passes in G.C.E. or C.X.C. of which two must be at advanced
level. Details of other matriculation provisions are available from
the Admissions Office.
Programme Outline
To be admitted to this programme students must fulfill the University's
matriculation requirements. The Head of Department may subject applicants
to an interview.
The programme consist of two components:
1. Satisfactory completion of the regulation ninety (90) credits.
Most Library and Information Studies courses are assigned three
(3) credits. Students must complete at least forty-five (45) credits
in Library and Information Studies.
2. Twelve (12) weeks approved fieldwork in designated libraries/information
centres, ideally undertaken in the two summer vacations during the
programme. The award of the degree will be made only after satisfactory
completion of the fieldwork. The Department reserves the right to
waive fieldwork or part thereof under special circumstances.
