LS10A - Information and Society


Course Description

(3 credits)

This course is designed to provide an understanding of information as a special phenomenon, the historical foundation of its organization, the theoretical bases of its manifestation and use. It also covers the role of agencies, industries and services that create, process, store and distribute information and the individuals and organizations that use information.

Two hours of lectures plus one hour tutorial per week.

Evaluation
Evaluation

1. Course work consisting of one essay counting for 12.5% and one tutorial presentation counting for 12.5%, both totaling 25% of the final mark.
2. One two-hour examination at the end of the semester counting for 75% of the final mark.
