Course Description
This is an introductory course designed to expose students to the
classical, scientific and human relations theories of management
and to demonstrate to them how to use the knowledge gained to solve
some of the problems which may arise in their future role as
library managers. The course will also cover some of the basic management
processes such as planning, organizing, recruitment, training and
marketing of information services.
Objectives
At the end of the course students will have a basic understanding
of the classical, scientific and human relations theories of management.
They will be able to relate the knowledge gained of the theories
to understand contemporary management practices in libraries and
information services.
They will have acquired the basic knowledge of the processes of
planning, organizing, human resource management and marketing as
they relate to libraries and information services.
