How is this programme different from the M.Ed literacy studies or the M.Phil cultural studies?
This programme offers the content necessary for the post secondary school English Language programmes such as:
Cape Communications Studies
U.C. 120 at UWI
English for Academic Purposes
Tertiary Level remedial course
What if I am already a qualified teacher. How will this programme benefit me?
The M.A. in the English Language recognizes that trained teachers already have developed professional skills in "how" to teach. This programme is the only one that delivers the content "what" to teach at the post secondary level.
Does this programme carry the same weight as an M.Ed or M.Ed. Literacy studies and M.Phil cultural studies?
MSc's, M.ED's and M.A's are all at the same level and carry the same weighting.
What is meant by part time study in the M.A. in the English language programme?
We propose to deliver the programme on alternate weekends. We invite persons who have concerns about attendance on particular days to speak to the Programme Administrator, to discuss how best we can accommodate you.
Graduate programmes are expensive. How will I pay for my studies?
Students who wish to apply for a student loan may do so through the University Credit Union. Please contact the Programme Administrator for more information.
