Joint Summer Meeting of the
Society of Pidgin and Creole Linguistics (SPCL)
and the
Associação de Crioulos de Base Lexical Portuguesa e Espanhola (ACBLPE)
18-20 June 2007
Amsterdam, The Netherlands

General Information

The joint SPCL/ACBLPE Summer Meeting 2007 will take place at the University of Amsterdam. Papers on various areas of contact linguistics and Pidgin and Creole will be presented. There will be a special session on gradualism and population studies, dedicated to the memory of Jacques Arends.

1. Programme

(a)        The keynote address will be delivered on Monday 18 June 2007 by Prof Pieter Muysken of Radboud University, Nijmegen.
(b)        We are planning 3 parallel sessions, 2 for SPCL and 1 for ACBLPE, for papers of 30 minutes in length (including discussion).

2. Conference dinner

The conference dinner will be held on the second evening of the conference, Tuesday 19 June 2007, 8.30pm. This is not included in the conference fee and costs EUR 25. It will be at an Indonesian restaurant, Kantjil en Tijger, involving a >20-dish rijstafel meal (also including dishes for vegetarians) -- typical Dutch East Indies creole cuisine!
