The Earthquake Unit
The main responsibilities of
the Earthquake Unit are to:
Operate and manage the Jamaica Seismograph Network (JSN) which
consists of 12 stations and 8 accelerographs
Maintain a database of all earthquakes recorded by the
JSN

Equipment recording live feeds at the Earthquake Unit
from stations across Jamaica. |
Inform the public about earthquakes felt in Jamaica
Collect information about earthquakes felt in Jamaica
Conduct research on the seismicity, seismic hazard, current
tectonic activity, site response and vibration analysis
Serve as Jamaica's National Data Centre for the Comprehensive
(Nuclear) Test-Ban Treaty Organization (CTBTO) International
Data Centre
Welcome visits from schools or community groups
