The Eighth Conference of the Faculty of Pure and Applied Sciences will be held on the Mona Campus of The University of the West Indies on February 26-28th, 2008. The Conference will feature research being undertaken by staff and graduate students in the Faculty of Pure and Applied Sciences, Mona. Researchers at The Cave Hill and The St. Augustine Campuses of The University are cordially invited to participate.
The Objectives of the Conference are:
- to provide a forum whereby the public may be made aware of the research activities of The Faculty of Pure and Applied Sciences;
- to highlight the work being undertaken in pure and applied sciences at The University among professional colleagues in anticipation of fostering multidisciplinary investigations;
- to provide graduate students with an opportunity to present their work in a professionally sympathetic environment, whilst adhering to internationally accepted standards of academic content and time keeping.
Abstracts are invited reporting unpublished research in any aspect of pure and applied sciences. If accepted for presentation, the work will appear in Proceedings of the Conference. Two regional and international experts will present plenary papers at the Conference. A special invitation is extended to undergraduates in the Faculty. Consistent with the University's Strategic Plan to increase student enrolment in Science and Technology, several groups of High School students will also be invited to attend selected sessions.
