Dr Winklet Galliomore joined the Department as Lecturer in Inorganic Chemistry.

Outreach Activities

The Department again ran CAPE workshops, in the second week of March 2004.

Visitors

The Department hosted Dr John Ewen, a Jamaican and 1972 graduate of the Department, and winner of the USA National Medal for Technology 2001. This was awarded for critical work on catalysts that have revolutionized the manufacture, marketing and use of plastics.

The Department also hosted Amanda Yarnell, Associate Editor of Chemical and Engineering News, an American Chemical Society weekly magazine reaching more than 170,000 subscribers and libraries in government, industry and academic institutions. She covered our Research Day activities and interviewed several officials and researchers at the UWI, as well as in industry and government, and at UTech and NCU.
