UWI-FST contributes to "Writeshop" on the International Court of Justice (ICJ) Advisory Opinion on Climate Change

On February 15-16, 2024, Professor Michael Taylor (Dean, Faculty of Science and Technology (FST), The UWI Mona) and Professor Michelle Mycoo (The University of West Indies, St. Augustine Campus), lead authors with the International Panel of Climate Change (IPCC), participated in the 'Writeshop' hosted by Grenada's Ministry of Climate Resilience.

This workshop focused on the International Court of Justice (ICJ) Advisory Opinion on climate change, building upon Resolution 77/276 adopted at the UN General Assembly in 2023. Taylor's expertise, alongside other UWI experts and legal professionals like Professor David Berry and Dr. Jan Yves Remy, was instrumental in deepening awareness and understanding among Caribbean states about their obligations regarding climate change. This collaborative effort aimed to encourage active participation and collaboration in submitting written statements to the ICJ, a critical step in addressing global climate challenges.
