| The Environmental
Management Unit offers the opportunity for research towards
the degree of Doctor of Philosophy (PhD). A first or upper
second class honours degree and an approved Master’s
degree in an appropriate field are required for a candidate
to be eligible for admission. The determination of acceptance
into the programme is also based upon the candidate’s
research proposal. The PhD thesis should make a distinctive
contribution to the content and advancement of knowledge in
the field of environmental management and show evidence of
originality.
A candidate will pursue research over a minimum of two calendar
years as a full-time student or three years as a part-time
student. The PhD is a research degree and is examined by thesis,
but candidates are required to take preparatory courses of
up to twelve credits.
