Course Description

This course explores the distinct foundations upon which modern Caribbean politics rest. It attempts to identify the unique characteristics and experiences of Caribbean states to enrich the field of comparison with other political systems. These foundations are laid by small size and location, colonial history, political leadership and political culture. The main purpose is to be able to understand the nature of contemporary Caribbean politics from the continuing impact of these foundations.
