Ques. What time do I arrive on the day of my Ceremony and what am I expected to do ?

Ans. You are to arrive by 3:00 p.m. for the Ceremonies at 5:30p.m. and 8:00 a.m. to begin at 10:00 a.m. and assemble on the lawns of the New Education Lecture Theatre. This area will be clearly marked “Graduates’ Procession”. When instructed, you are to report to the area indicated by your Faculty sign and Marshals will then place you in alphabetical order.

You will be issued a receipt form which you are to sign and keep very carefully. (This will be needed at the Certificate table, where you will be given your certificate in exchange for your receipt).

Ques. What am I expected to do after taking my place in the line?

Ans. Please maintain your position in the line to ensure that when your name is later called by the Dean, you will be in position to step forward at once. All graduates and candidates will be given a seat card bearing a number and this number may also be placed on the chair designated for the particular individual.

Ques. What am I expected to do while the Chancellor's Procession is entering the platform?

Ans. You are to remain standing until the Chancellor's Procession enters the main platform. You will be advised, by the Chancellor, to take your seat at the appropriate time.

Ques. How do I know when the Ceremony  formally  begins?

Ans. Each Ceremony formally begins with the Chancellor's address followed by the conferment of Honorary Degrees: two (2) for the Ceremony on Friday and two (2) each for Saturday's Ceremonies. One Honorary Graduand will address the Company after the conferment of Degrees for each Ceremony. The University Singers will thereafter perform.

When the singers have finished, graduates will then be presented by Faculty and individually, for the award of their Certificates.

Ques. How  will I know when I am to be presented to  the Chancellor and what am I expected to do?

Ans. The Senior Assistant Registrar will precede the Marshals assigned to each Faculty group and you will follow row by row as directed. Please ensure that you are in possession of your receipt. Efforts will again be made to ensure that you are in strict alphabetical order by checking off the names against the applicable Dean's List.

Ques. Who presents the graduates to the Chancellor?

Ans. The University Registrar will ask the Chancellor to receive you as graduate members of the University. The Chancellor will call on the Dean to present the members of the applicable class and the Dean will accordingly call your name for presentation.

Ques. What do I do when my name is called by  the  Dean?

Ans. You will walk across the stage at this point, bow to the Chancellor, shake his hand and walk toward the Campus Registrar who will hand you the canister in which you will later place your certificate for storage.
