| An examination of the economy and social
structure of Europe between C1500 and C1750, contrasting in particular
the elements of continuity and relative stagnation in Continental
Europe with the elements of change and relative economic advance in
England. Themes studied: the significance of population change; the
evolution of agriculture, industry and trade; the limits to social
mobility and the mentality of the masses. |
