How to Apply for Student Exchange


Study Abroad (Incoming Students)

Step 1

Browse website to see if your school is apart of the list of schools that UWI has an agreement with

Step 2

Download UWI information on the desired courses relating to your current programme of studies

Step 3

Submit completed application, a copy of birth certificate and transcript to the student affairs office (admin office)

Step 4

Make regular checks on the progress of your application

Step 5

Confirm application with head of department

Immigration Requirements

Citizens of non Commonwealth Countries must obtain a valid Student Visa prior to entry into any UWI Campus country (Jamaica, Barbados or Trinidad & Tobago). Requests can be made at the nearest Diplomatic Mission or Consular Office representing the relevant country.

Student Exchange (Outgoing Students)

Procedures

  1. Visit the International Student Office Coordinator to obtain information on available exchange programmes and courses offered by the various overseas universities.
  2. Browse the websites of these partner institutions to obtain information on programmes relating to your specific areas of study.
  3. Download from the selected partner institution information on the desired courses relating to your current programme of studies.
  4. Consult your Head(s) of Department and Dean of Faculty concerning the proposed study overseas.
  5. Fill out application form(s) in consultation with the Head(s) of Department. You must provide outlines for the courses you wish to pursue.
  6. Submit completed application forms with supporting statement to the International Student Office.
  7. Maintain contact with your Head/Dean and speak with the International Student Office Coordinator about progress of the application.
  8. Confirm approval of participation in the exchange programme with the International Student Office Office.
  9. Complete UWI registration before proceeding on Exchange (i.e. You must register at UWI)
  10. *Tuition fees applicable for the Mona Campus must be paid before departure.

NOTE: Miscellaneous fees and other incidentals must be paid at the host institution.
