Trade Relations Law 1: The Private Law of International Trade |

1 . General
The completion of either Law of Contract (LL.B. Old Regulations) or
of both
Law of Contract I and Law of Contract II is a prerequisite for this
course.
This course will be taught either in the second Semester of the second
year of the
LL.B. programme or in the first or second Semester of the third year
of that
programme. This course is an optional course.
2. Course Objective
This course is designed to provide an introduction to the special
legal problems
of private law associated with foreign trade. It forms a pair with
Trade Relations
Law II, which examines the public international law aspects of foreign
trade law.
The content of each of the two courses is nevertheless designed so
that each
course is capable of being studied independently of the other.

i. The Private International Law of Contract
ii. International Payments
iii. Carriage of Goods by Sea
iv. Carriage of Goods by Air
v. International Arbitration
vi. Recognition of Foreign Judgments
4. Method of Teaching
This course will be taught in two lectures and one tutorial per week.
Each
lecture will be of one hour's duration and the tutorial will also
be of one hour's
duration.
5. Method of Assessment

This course will be assessed by way of a two-hour final examination
at the end
of the semester. Students will be required to answer three questions,
one of
which may be a compulsory question from a total of six questions.
