LA33B Trade Relations Law II: The Trade Relations Context of InternationalEconomic Law
  1. General
The completion of International Economic and Development Law is a
prerequisite for this course. This course will be taught in the second semester of
the third year of the LL.B. degree programme. It is an optional course.

2. Course Objective

The course is designed to provide an introduction to the multilateral agreements
governing international trade annexed to the Agreement Establishing the World
Trade Organization. It forms a pair with Trade Relations Law I, which examines
the private law aspects of foreign trade law. The content of each of the two
courses is nevertheless designed so that each course is capable of being studied
independently of the other.

i. Border Measures
ii. Trade Law Remedies
iii. Special Regimes for trade in Goods
iv. Trade in Services
v. Trade-Related Aspects of Intellectual Property Rights
vi. Understanding on Rules and Procedures Governing the Settlement of
Disputes

4. Method of Teaching
three hours per week.

5. Method of Assessment

This course will be assessed by way of one assignment during the semester
which will account for 1/3 of the final mark and one two hour examination at the

end of the Semester in which it is taught. Students will be required to answer
two questions selected from a total of four questions in the examination.
