A student may choose to complete a B.Sc. degree with a major, an option or a minor in up to two subject areas.
MAJORS: Single or Double?
A single major may be obtained by securing 32 credits in Level II and Level
III courses from a single subject area e.g. Botany, Chemistry or Zoology. A double
major may similarly be obtained by securing 64 credits in Level
II and Level III courses from two subject areas e.g. Zoology
and Botany.
The department currently offers B.Sc. degrees with majors in Botany, Zoology, Experimental Biology and Environmental Biology. Students may also pursue a double major in Botany and Zoology.
MINORS
A minor requires sixteen (16) credits from Level II courses.
The department currently offers two (2) minors - in Botany and
Zoology.
OPTIONS
Two B.Sc. Options are offered in conjunction with other departments.
The Microbiology Option is offered jointly with
the Biochemistry Section, Department of Basic Medical Sciences. The
Biology with Education Option is offered in
combination with the Department of Education.
Award of Degree
REQUIREMENTS FOR THE AWARD OF A B.Sc. DEGREE
In all instances, a degree is granted for successful completion of courses such that
the student has obtained, at minimum, the following:
