Dr. Vaidya received his PhD in genetics and specializes in plant breeding.
His research is geared towards increasing the yield and availability of
vegetable and grain amaranths, roselle (Hibiscus sabdariffa L.), and mungbean.
He is in the process of developing sorrel genotypes that are photoperiod insensitive
and investigating factors affecting the productivity of vegetable amaranth (callaloo).
Dr. Vaidya has also conducted research on the butterfly pea, moth bean
(Vigna aconitifolia) and conservation of ackee (Blighia sapida) seed.
