Dr. McLaren is a forestry ecologist who has been involved in studies on the forest
systems in Jamaica with emphasis on their regeneration and the impact of human
disturbance. He is also involved in conservation activities in the forests in
eastern Jamaica, including the Blue and John Crow Mountains National Park.
