Major in Botany

Aim: To enable students to gain detailed knowledge of selected aspects of the plant sciences through practical and theoretical studies and to foster the desire for their continued exploratory investigations in the plant sciences.

 

PART I   LEVEL I

A Major in Botany requires a minimum of 24 credits from Part I and must include:

BL 10L / BIOL1013 Cell Biology & Genetics

BL 10L / BIOL1063 Animal Diversity
(6)
BL 10M / BIOL1015 Plant Diversity
(6)
(in addition BC10M/BIOC1011 Introductory Biochemistry is highly recommended)

Part II  Level II

A total of 32 credits from Part II which must include:

BL 20J / BIOL2011
General & Molecular Genetics
(4)
BL 20N / BIOL2014 Ecology
(4)
BT 21B / BOTN2011 Seed Plants
(4)
BT 22A / BOTN2012 Plant Physiology
(4)
 
PART II   LEVEL III
 

8 credits from Advanced Level ‘BT/BOTN' courses and 8 credits from Advanced Level ‘BT/BOTN' or ‘BL/BIOL' Courses or MICR2252.

Some Level II courses may have to be taken together with Level III courses.
