Undergraduate Majors
 

Major in Zoology

Aim: To provide a detailed understanding and appreciation of the interrelatedness of the processes of evolution, natural selection and ecosystem functions, as well as the structural and functional organization of animals and animal-like protists. The graduate will also be equipped with the resources, capacity and foundation to further explore the animal kingdom.

 

PART I   LEVEL I

A Major in Zoology requires a minimum of 24 credits at Part I and must include:

BL 10J / BIOL1013 Cell Biology and Genetics
(6)
BL 10L / BIOL1063 Animal Diversity
(6)
BL 10M / BIOL1015 Plant Diversity
(6)
(in addition BC10M/BIOC1011 Introductory Biochemistry is highly recommended)

PART II  LEVEL II

A total of 32 credits from Part II, which must include:

BL 20K / BIOL2012 Evolutionary Biology
(4)
BL 20N / BIOL2014 Ecology
(4)
Z 20G / ZOOL2012 Functional Organisation of Animals I
(4)
Z 20H / ZOOL2013 Functional Organisation of Animals II
(4)
 
PART II  LEVEL III
Any 16 credits from the list of Level II or Level III Biology and Zoology courses or MICR2252.
