LITS 3402 (E34B): CLASSIC AMERICAN PROSE FICTION

Lecturer in Charge: Mr David Williams [Room 54 – New Arts Block]

This course will explore a representative sample of canonical American fiction within the context of the literary and cultural currents that defined American society between the post-independence period and the modernist era.

Prerequisite: E10B and one Level II prose fiction course

Instruction: 2 lectures, 1 tutorial per week

Evaluation: 1 coursework essay 30%

Journal & tutorial presentations 10%

Two-hour final examination 60%
