President of FIFA Visits Mona Campus

President of the Fédération Internationale de Football Association (FIFA), Joseph S. Blatter will visit the University of the West Indies, Mona for the inauguration of the Jamaica Football Federation Technical Centre (Goal Project I) and Ground Breaking Ceremony for Goal Project II. The Ceremony takes place on Monday, September 27, 2010 at 10 am at the UWI Mona Bowl Centre for Sporting Excellence. This will be followed by a Press Conference. 

Goal Project I and II entails additional development of the football training facilities and the construction of an extra football field as well as the erection of administrative offices as part of the Football Academy Centre. 

The Football Academy is a part of the UWI, Mona partnership with the Jamaica Football Federation that will provide the framework for transformation of the football and academic landscapes. The collaboration will see the continued development of a Football Academy which will provide an excellent training facility for the support of the human and physical resources to sustain growth of football at levels in Jamaica. The Academy upon completion will also provide accommodation. The UWI, Mona will continue to expand and improve the Mona Bowl for Sporting Excellence by establishing a sports medicine complex.
