UWI Annual Nursing Midwifery Research Conference and Mary Seivwright Day May 26 – 27, 2011

The UWI School of Nursing, Mona, will host its Annual Nursing and Midwifery Research Conference and Mary Seivwright Day from May 26-27, at the School’s Lecture Theatre, the Mary Seivwright Building, 9 Gibraltar Camp Way, UWI, Mona Campus.

The purpose of this year’s conference, which brings together regional and international participants and presenters, is to enable nursing lecturers, tutors, managers, clinical staff, students and policy makers to explore international evidence on innovative approaches to nursing education in the classroom and clinical areas.

Dr. Pamela Ironside, Associate Professor, Indiana University will give the keynote address at the Opening Ceremony. She will  speak on the topic “Transforming clinical nursing education using research based pedagogies” Also, Professor Gordon Shirley, Pro Vice Chancellor and Principal of the Mona Campus, Professor Archibald McDonald, Dean Faculty of Medical Sciences and Marilyn Entwistle, Health Systems and Service Development  Officer, PAHO/WHO, Jamaica will bring greetings.     

The main themes of the conference are: Innovations in teaching and learning; Clinical teaching and supervision; Curriculum and clinical service partnerships; regulations in nursing education and the role of professional nursing associations in nursing education.
