Notions of Beauty - Black History Symposium

"Notions of Beauty in black communities globally: Rituals of positive affirmation and denigration of the black body with a special focus on notions of good hair vs. bad hair and additional dialogue on skin bleaching" is the title of a special Black History Symposium to be presented by the Department of Sociology, Psychology and Social Work this Friday, February 24 in the Neville Hall Lecture Theatre (N1) fro 6:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m.

Panellists include Dr Clinton Hutton, Dr Imani Tafari, Dr Christopher Charles and Annie Paul with Dr Michael Barnett as chairperson. The documentary “Good Hair” by Chris Rock will also be screened along with the panel discussion.
