UWI, Mona Hosts Contingent from Costa Rica as Part of Exchange Programme

A contingent of students and faculty from the University of Costa Rica are visiting the UWI, Mona Campus as part of the annual exchange programme from January 19 to February 2, 2013.

While in Jamaica the group will be exposed to the diverse culture of Jamaica and the University by participating in several tours of heritage and cultural sites such as Port Royal, Devon House, Bob Marley Museum, the UWI Marine Lab, Downtown Kingston, King’s House, Jamaica House and Dunn’s River Falls. Additionally they will be part of English classes which are geared towards providing a native speaker setting to improve second language acquisition. The visit will also afford the group an opportunity to experience the rich student life at the UWI, Mona and join with Mona students in community service projects.

The Cultural Exchange programme, which started in 1995, through the Office of Student Services and Development at The UWI, Mona affords students from both universities a mutual exploration of culture and an opportunity to learn a foreign language in a native language setting.
