Units
MITS takes responsibility for all the primary information and communication technologies for the Mona establishment.
The Department comprises of four functional units:
- Applications – provisioning, maintenance and support of all applications in the enterprise; provision of an appropriate information infrastructure
- Infrastructure – provisioning, maintenance and support of converged networks (voice + data) and network systems, ISP & ISP interface & hardware systems
- Instruction Support Systems (ISS) – provisioning training and utility support for the use of multimedia software and hardware tools and techniques to advance the teaching element
- User Support – to be eventually an information portal and the single point of contact for all IT services for the Mona Campus community and our stakeholders. At present this unit is largely the HelpDesk with related user support and maintenance services.
- Student Part-Time Employment- In support of the University’s sensitivity towards “Student Centeredness”, Mona Information Technology Services has established a programme to engage students on a part time basis in our work programmes. To the student there are two primary gains a) work experience b) financial assistance The gain for MITS is that it allows managed expansion of our resource base. Where possible we expose the students to the technology, to the business environment outside of the Campus, and to business related interactions.
