Mona
Ecommerce Information Page
What is …?
E-Commerce means conducting business online. Our Mona Campus e-commerce
launch (phase 1) offers our students the flexibility of making their
fee payment on line with the use of a regular credit card. E-commerce
is soon to become a way of life for most of us because it offers
a convenient means of transacting business which is neither time
bound nor location bound. The Mona Campus offers this at this time
as one way of easing the “crush” at the Banks and at
our Cashier Windows.
Why do ..?
These are five primary reasons for offering ecommerce :
1. Quality of service – maintaining “quality” is a strategic objective of the University.
2. Student centeredness is our primary intent. We therefore seek
to improve systems and processes which now create severe inconvenience
for our students. We must do away with the inordinately long queues
to settle accounts.
3. Quicker settlement of account – your account is credited
immediately that the transaction has completed successfully
4. Electronic payment allows you to eliminate the need to hold cash
5. Persons can make payments on behalf of students without the difficulty
inherent in money transfers and remittances
Who will…?
This phase of our eCommerce delivery will enable our students and
our donors to :
i) Make fee payment online
ii) Pay for transcript application
online
iii) Make donations
to the University online
Launch Date..?
The eCommerce facility was launched on Thursday
December 2nd, 2004 at the Undercroft
at 2:00 p.m.
How will ..?
The payment must be made against a credit card. Students whose credit
card limits are not sufficient to cover payments of these amounts
may arrange with their parents, guardians, and other support to
make the deposits and / or bank transfers to their card accounts,
thereby prepaying the card.
You will access the payment facility from the Campus Website,
homepage (http://www.mona.uwi.edu).
A payment screen will be presented to you with all the appropriate
information and explanations. See sample on back of brochure. The
transaction can be carried out from any computer connected to the
Internet.
