The Faculty of Science and Technology (FST) at The University of the West Indies, Mona (The UWI) proudly announces the appointment of Dr. Marvadeen Singh-Wilmot from the Department of Chemistry and Dr. Nagarani Ponakala from the Department of Mathematics as Fellows of the Caribbean Academy of Sciences (CAS). The announcement took place during the Biennial CAS Conference in Trinidad on November 25, 2023 and was followed by a Handover Ceremony on December 14, 2023 on the Mona campus, where Professor Anthony Clayton, a current CAS Fellow, presented them their certificates.

UWI Mona Launches New Course on EV Technologies

The Faculty of Science and Technology at The University of the West Indies, (UWI) Mona, will be introducing a new course aimed at equipping students with a broad foundation in the burgeoning field of electric mobility. Commencing in Semester 2 of the Academic Year 2023-2024, the Faculty will be offering “Electric Mobility - Fundamentals of EV Technologies.” Considered a pioneering initiative, this new offering seeks to expose UWI graduates to the future of sustainable transportation.

In one of the most comprehensive scholarly works of its kind within the region, Vice-Chancellor of The University of the West Indies (The UWI) Professor Sir Hilary Beckles has been honoured for his distinguished contributions to academia and as a social justice advocate and administrator.

Dozens of academics including fellow historians from across the globe have contributed 41 articles to the near 1150-page festschrift, a commemorative volume of writings by various authors and presented to the scholar as a tribute.

Dr. Michelle McLeod, a Senior Lecturer at The University of the West Indies Mona Campus in Kingston, Jamaica, has unveiled groundbreaking research shedding light on the intricacies of policy-making within the Caribbean tourism community. Titled ‘Tourism policy networks in four Caribbean countries,’ the paper delves into the dynamics of formal power and its influence on policy roles among tourism actors in Antigua and Barbuda, Barbados, Jamaica, and Trinidad and Tobago.
