The UWI Mona hopes that all members of our Campus Community are safe and have been minimally impacted by the inclement weather conditions that affected Jamaica on November 17.

We appreciate your patience and flexibility during any disruptions caused by the inclement weather. We also wish to thank all members of our Emergency Management team and responders on the ground, for ensuring the safety and well-being of our Campus Community. 

The UWI Mona Activates Remote Operations - November 17, 2023

The UWI Mona wishes to advise that in light of the weather conditions affecting Jamaica, the
Campus has taken the decision to move all academic and administrative services online for today,
November 17th. Staff will therefore work remotely with the exception of the emergency
management teams required to safeguard the Campus.

The UWI Mona encourages staff and students to be safe and to take the necessary actions to protect
lives and livelihood.

Further information will be provided as the day progresses.

Honorary graduand Professor Dale Abel did not mince words when he addressed members of The UWI’s class of 2023 last Saturday morning, urging them to be humble and to pay it forward.

He also encouraged the graduands to challenge the status quo, seek out mentorship opportunities, and “resist the temptation to be motivated solely by self-interest”.

He was speaking at the graduation ceremony for students in the faculties of Medical Sciences and Sport shortly after he was conferred with an Honorary Degree of Doctor of Science (DSc).

Faculty of Medical Sciences to host its 29th Annual Research Conference

After a three-year hiatus due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Faculty of Medical Sciences at The University of the West Indies (The UWI) Mona, will be hosting its 29th Annual Research Conference and Workshops (FMS-ARC) from November 22 - 24, 2023.
 
The highly anticipated Conference will be hosted in the Main Medical Lecture Theatre at the University Hospital of the West Indies (UHWI). This 29th Conference will explore and celebrate the evolution and revolution of the Faculty in its capacity of teaching and research.
