The University of the West Indies, Mona Campus, is pleased to announce the appointment of Mr. Dennis Cohen as the Chairman the project, Operation Restructuring Transformation and Growth (RTG), a key initiative geared towards reforming the Administrative processes on the campus. Cohen, a chartered accountant and distinguished business executive  with over two decades of experience in the financial sector  including  roles as; the Group Chief Financial Officer and Deputy CEO of NCB Financial Group Limited, CEO of NCB Capital Markets and Vice President of Citibank N.A.

More than 3500 students from the Class of 2023 will be conferred with degrees, diplomas, and certificates by The University of the West Indies (The UWI) as the Mona Campus hosts four (4) Graduation Ceremonies from November 3-4, 2023. The Ceremonies will be broadcasted on UWI TV and social media.

Update: The UWI Mona Resumes Operations on Tuesday, October 31, 2023

The UWI Mona wishes to confirm that operations will resume on Tuesday, October 31, 2023. A team of Structural Engineers have made the necessary assessments and have given Campus Management the assurance that the facilities across The UWI Mona Campus are cleared for occupancy and use.

The University of the West Indies Earthquake Unit has confirmed that the island experienced a 5.6 magnitude earthquake at 10:57am, the epicenter was located 10 km south of Buff Bay, Portland.

In order to ensure the structural integrity of all buildings on the Mona Campus, The Management of the Campus has suspended operations for the rest of the day - October 30, 2023.

The Community is advised to monitor Mona Messaging, the media and their immediate supervisors, and Faculty Offices for further updates.

A new study published in the scientific journal, Nature Climate Change, provides the first global analysis of actors engaged in climate adaptation and their roles. The study reveals a critical issue, that systematic networking of various actor groups has generally been insufficient.

The University of the West Indies, Mona, took centre stage in a critical conversation addressing the financing of tertiary education in Jamaica, as it hosted a forum intending to chart a new path forward. The event, held on October 11, 2023, titled: "Colloquium on Financing Tertiary Education," sought to identify feasible solutions to the persistent challenge of financing higher education in the country.
