OBJECTIVES:

The main goals of the internship are for participans to:

  • Acquire knowledge and skills in health systems research.
  • Examine multiple intervention programs design and evaluation issues in health systems.
  • Acquire knowledge and skills essential for competitive grantsmanship.
  • Extend repertoire of cutting edge research designs and approaches in health systems
  • Develop complete research proposals, programs of research and/or a scientific manuscript during work in progress sessions.
  • Enhance peer review skills
  • Acquire knowledge and skills in networking and extend links with local, national, and international decision-makers.

Eligibility:

Graduate prepared (must have completed a graduate degree at least one month prior to the start date of the internship) in nursing, medicine, public health, epidemiology or other health sciences related disciplines.

  • Committed to long-term research engagement and providing tangible benefits to home community or institution
  • Interest in international collaboration

Registration Fees:

The internship offers the following options:

  • Basic Package: refreshments, programme materials, transport for site visits, welcome dinner
  • Half Package: lunch and refreshments (on weekdays), programme materials, transport for site visits, welcome dinner.
  • Full Package: lunch and refreshments (on weekdays), programme materials, airport shuttle, transport for site visits, accommodation, welcome dinner.

Caribbean Region Participants

  • Basic Package: US$200
  • Half Package:US$1500
  • Full Package: US$2500

 International Participants

  • Full Package:$3000

 

PLEASE NOTE:

  • All participants are responsible for their own travel arrangements and associated costs.
  • Breakfast & dinner on weekdays are not included in the program fee
  • Weekend catering (all meals) are not included in the program fee.

The UWI School of Nursing, Mona will host the Annual Nursing and Midwifery Research Conference on Thursday, May 28 and Friday May 29, 2015. Interns are encouraged to submit abstracts and attend the conference.
